Welcome to Our Blog

Today, Welch and Avery, LLP starts a new chapter in our firm as we introduce our new blog. Though there are a lot of legal blogs out there already, we believe it is important to keep our clients and the people of our community informed and up-to-date about important legal information.

Why We Started Our Blog

There are several goals we wish to accomplish.

  • Education. The law is a complicated subject. Lawyers spend years in school to learn the basics, and many more years practicing law to get a grasp of all the intricacies. Most people in the general population don’t realize that they deal with potential legal issues on a regular basis. But when they face a legal difficulty it can suddenly feel overwhelming. We would like to use this blog to provide our readers with the basic knowledge they need to feel more comfortable with the legal process.
  • Clarification. The law is a complicated part of our lives. It's also something that is surrounded by myths, misperceptions, misunderstandings, and downright falsehoods. We'd like to use this blog to clear up those misperceptions and give our readers a clearer understanding of important legal issues affecting their lives.
  • News. Legal news pops up all the time. Some stories get important coverage in newspaper headlines and on TV, while others fall through the cracks. Court decisions can alter the legal environment, and new legislation can leave people wondering what it all means for them.

We want to use this blog to keep our readers abreast of important legal news that might actually affect their lives, whether the media has covered it or not. We'll also notify our readers of important events at Welch and Avery.

We will generally be posting new entries twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As a reader please feel free to leave comments, join in the discussion or reach out to us if you would like more information about any topic we cover.

And while we want to use our blog to educate, inform, and reassure our readers, it's important to point out that nothing you read on the Internet, including our blog posts, will ever be a substitute for the legal advice that a qualified attorney can provide you. Only by speaking to a licensed attorney who talks to you about your situation, investigates the facts and the law, and who has experience with the kind of legal issue you're facing can you be sure that you receive the legal advice that is relevant to you and your needs. If you need legal advice or feel you need to talk to a lawyer, please contact us as soon as possible.
